I am trying to create a bootable USB flash drive for the 5-MC MC Pro / CM408 using the rescue images *.zip archive files downloaded from the Avid website. |
I cannot get the USB flash drive to work. Something is preventing me making the USB image. Some of the file names appear in green text. How do I correct this to allow the re-image USB flash drive to work?File names appearing in Windows Explorer in green text denotes that the file is encrypted. The files are not encrypted but appear to be to Windows Explorer with certain versions of Windows (Vista, Windows 7, and Server 2008).The Windows built in file compression / extraction function of these Operating Systems sees the Advanced Attributes of certian files flagged as being encrypted if the archive that contains them has been created on a Mac OS X computer. The encryption flag can prevent these files from being opened, copied, or modified, blocking the creation of a bootable USB flash drive.
It is quite simple to manually change the Advanced Attributes of the files to set the encryption flag to off. The attached document, 5-MC Rescue Image on Win 7 PC.pdf offeres a step by step guide on how to manually change the Attributes and allow the USB flash drive to be created successfully.
