I just downloaded and installed a Pro Tools application update. Now the Digibase Guide, DigiRack Plug-in Guide, Keyboard Shortcuts, Pro Tools Menu Guide, Pro Tools Reference Guide, Digidesign FAQ are listed under Help or Pro Tools menu, but they do not load when selected. In Pro Tools LE Mac or Windows.

Despite, the manuals' appearances in either the Help Menu (PC) or the Pro Tools menu (Mac), these guides are not actually installed.

This problem occurs when people have downloaded Pro Tools (LE for Mac or Windows XP) from the Dididesign Website. If they used the Pro Tools installer CD, this problem does not exist.

The Workaround for Windows XP: These documents can be downloaded separately from the Digidesign website, placed in the Digidesign\Documentation\Pro Tools directory and properly named. Then they will be accessible via the Help or Pro Tools Menu as well as being opened Standalone. Here's How:

1) Go to http://www.digidesign.com/support/docs/

2) Using the right mouse button click and choose save to disk for each of the following separately : Digibase Guide, DigiRack Plug-in Guide, Keyboard Shortcuts, Pro Tools Menu Guide, Pro Tools Reference Guide, Digidesign FAQ. If you click on the links using the left mouse button, they will be loaded and displayed in Adobe Acrobat viewer. It is possible to save the files from within Acrobat viewer, however the file names will need to be changed before Pro Tools will be able to recognize them.

3) Place these guides (pdf files) in the Pro Tools documentation folder: Start Menu > My Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > Digidesign > Documentation > Pro Tools.

4) Now, these guides will be accessible.

Workaround for Mac:

1) Download the Pro Tools Documentation as detailed above.

2) Place these guides (pdf files) in the Pro Tools documentation folder: Mac HD > Applications > Digidesign > Documentation > Pro Tools
