Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.3 Update for Mac OS X

Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.3 is a free update for all Pro Tools 8.0.2 M-Powered Essential owners. Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.3 for Mac OS X supports the following operating systems:

• Mac OS X 10.6.1 - 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard)
  
• Mac OS X 10.5.5 - 10.5.8 (Leopard)
  

An Intel-based Mac is required.

Note to Snow Leopard Users: Versions of Pro Tools prior to 8.0.3 will not work properly on the Snow Leopard (10.6) operating system. If you have previously installed Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.2 on your Macintosh computer with the Leopard (10.5) operating system and have updated to Snow Leopard, you can utilize this Pro Tools Update Installer to update your system to Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.3.

If you have purchased a new computer with Snow Leopard or have uninstalled Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.2, you can still install Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.3 with this updater but it will require the use of your original Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.2 DVD. See installation instructions below.

With Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.2 Already Installed
If you have updated your computer to Snow Leopard and did not remove your earlier version of Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.2, simply download and run the updater normally. (Caution: Do not attempt to launch your older version of Pro Tools 8 as it will not run properly on Snow Leopard)

Without Pro Tools M-Powered Essential Installed
If you have purchased a new computer with Snow Leopard or have uninstalled your previous version of Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.2, please take the following steps:

1. Download the Pro Tools 8.0.3 Updater from this page.
2. Insert your origial Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.2 disc into the DVD drive.
3. Launch the Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.3 Updater and follow the onscreen instructions.

Installation Note: Some users may encounter an error dialog while running the Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.3 Mac Web Updater with a Pro Tools DVD on a clean Mac OS system. This dialog states that the "PACESuppport.kext was installed improperly and cannot be used." This dialog can be safely dismissed, and you should not encounter any problem after rebooting.

Q: Snow Leopard provides a 64-bit kernel mode. Will Pro Tools 8.0.3 work in 64-bit kernel mode?
A: Pro Tools 8.0.3 is not qualified with Snow Leopard's 64-bit kernel mode at this time.

Q: Is Pro Tools 8.0.3 a 64-bit application?
A: Pro Tools 8.0.3 is a 32-bit application. We are investigating 64-bit support and have no release plans to share at this time.
