Final Cut Pro X: Options for importing media from photo-based devices

Summary

Devices that are primarily photo devices, but also have the capability of recording video onto media cards, may not import video media into Final Cut Pro as expected.

You can either:

  • Import the media by accessing the media card directly and importing the files into Final Cut Pro.
  • Import the media into iPhoto or Aperture and drag the imported media from iPhoto or Aperture to a Final Cut Pro event.

To import media from your photo-based device to your computer, remove the memory card from your device and insert it into either your computer (if your Mac has a card slot) or a memory card reader. Then, follow the steps below for the method you'd like to use.
