About Apple FIPS Cryptographic Module v1.1

The Apple FIPS 140-2 Administration Tools package is intended for use by Administrators and Crypto Officers in enterprises that require the use of a FIPS 140-2 validated cryptographic module.

IMPORTANT: 

Once an OS X Lion system has been placed into “FIPS Mode”, it is necessary to disable “FIPS Mode” before performing an OS X Lion Software Update.  Failure to do so, will prevent the computer from booting up successfully after the restart.  After performing the Software Update, the Crypto Officer will need to re-enable “FIPS-Mode” following the instructions noted within the Crypto Officer Role Guide.
