Custom Furniture Home
Audio Perception can design and build any type of custom studio or technical furniture. First we consult with you to determine your needs and budget. Next we design a 3D model of your furniture, and/or room, so we can look at all aspects of the project to determine exactly what you need. This allows you to visualize your project from all sides to understand it completely and really see what it will look like. Last, our master builders create your furniture by hand, using the best materials and finishes available. Call us to discuss your next furniture project.

AVID Control 24 - S3
So you have been using your trusty Control 24 for many years now, and then along comes Pro Tools 11, and just like that it doesn't work anymore. Sounds like a great time to move to a new AVID S3. The only problem is, what do I do with the S3 without buying a whole new desk? Just sit it in the giant hole left by the Control 24? This is exactly what happened to William Tabanou, owner of Tab Sound Design in Los Angeles. William's KK audio Control 24 desk is setup perfectly for how he likes to work, and he didn't want the hassle or expense of changing out to a new desk. He also needed to find a way to present a professional look to his TV and film clients. Our solution for William was to remove the Control 24 from the existing desk, and insert a new frame that held 6 Dorrough meters, a UA Mic pre, A Dangerous Music ST, SR and remote, an AVID Artist Transport, and of course the Avid S3. William's only request was that this "new" desk look like it was built for the S3 all along, and still had the feel of a console in the room. He wanted it to look like a console, not just gear screwed into a rack and equipment placed into cut-out holes. To achieve this, we made sure none of the mounting screws were showing and all of the equipment was recessed into the desk. The whole top deck is one continuous piece of wood, and this all works together to make the new Control 24 to S3 desk feel like a large console again.

Post Production Studio
When it comes time to design a studio for our clients, we handle all aspects of the job. Art Write of Thunder Music and Sound asked AP to design and build his new studio. After building the studio within the constraints of a pre existing wall structure, we were left with the challenge of designing furniture that was able to support a room full of people typical to a post audio type session, and have room to hold all of the equipment, all while not taking up too much footprint in the room. We designed a dashboard type desk that reaches the full width of the front of the room with equipment racks on top, as well as racks that double as desk supports underneath. For the back of the room, there is a client credenza that houses a large keyboard controller, on a retractable shelf, storage cabinets on the front, and plenty of client work space on the top, with features like hidden electrical sockets that pop up from the desktop.

Composer's Desk
When Musician/Composer Jeff Russo purchased his new SSL 948, he knew that he needed to have a great desk to put it in. He decided on a AZ Studio Workstations' AP Classic 900 designed by Audio Perception. This was a great fit for his room which allowed him to match the wood with his new floor that was installed, and give the whole control room a fresh look. For the final addition to the studio, he needed a composer station that matched the look of his new SSL desk, but delivered everything he needed in a very tight space. AP worked closely with Jeff to design this special work station, first in a 3D model, then following it through to production. This unique desk holds his main keyboard controller, all of his computer monitors and other equipment, and features a very special way to deal with his space issues. Jeff has two rolling tables on each side of him that are used as workspaces, as well as a home for iPads, keyboards and more. Whenever he is not working, he wanted to be able to get those out of the way, since the desk is near the rear of the room and blocks the walkway. To solve this we created areas on the desk that let the tables full of equipment slide into pockets, to hide away when not in use, clearing the walk way. The front of the rack also houses 24 rack spaces for equipment that faces his engineers position for easy access.
