Logic Pro/Express 8: May stop responding while Searching for Audio Unit plug-ins on startup
Symptoms
The Logic Pro or Express 8 startup process may stop when the startup screen shows "Searching for Audio Unit plug-ins." The mouse pointer remains an arrow, and the computer remains responsive. You can still quit Logic using the keyboard shortcut (Command-Q).
Products Affected
Logic Express 8, Logic Pro 8
Resolution
This can happen if the Audio Unit cache file is unusable. To resolve the issue:
- In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
- Type ~/Library/Caches in the "Go to the folder" field.
- Press the Go button
- Remove the "com.apple.audiounits.cache" file.
The next time you start Logic, the installed Audio Unit plug-ins will be rescanned and Logic should then startup normally.
