AMA Auto Mount

Last Updated : March 26, 2013
Products Affected : Media_Composer, NewsCutter, Symphony

Why wont my AMA drives auto mount?

This can happen when the Windows service 'Shell hardware detection' is disabled in Windows computer management. This service is probably disabled by your system administrator to prevent the distribution of 'Autorun' viruses.

To re-enable this service right click 'My Computer' and choose 'Manage'. In the Computer Management window that now opens choose 'Services' and then lookup 'Shell hardware detection' in the services list. Double click the service and choose 'Automatic' at 'Startup type'. Then click the 'Start' button

**After enabling this service you will need to restart the machine.

Also inside control panel make sure that "Auto Play" is set to run for all media and drives.

Creating a Studio

Posted in Pro Tools

You create the Studio by naming up to eight AirSpeeds with a common Host Name and a unique number after the name. The name and the number are separated with a dash (–). Do not add any spaces between the name, dash, and number. Also, do not use more than one dash in the name. The Studio consist of AirSpeeds using the naming format of studioname–1 through studioname–8, which allows the Avid editing system to easily locate the members of the Studio.

When naming the AirSpeed members to create a Studio, the first AirSpeed name in the Studio must include the “–1” in the name. The second AirSpeed you add to the Studio must include “–2” in the name, and so forth. You cannot skip a number in the Studio name. For example, you must use studioname–1, studioname–2, studioname–3 and cannot use studioname–1, studioname–3, and studioname–4.

Airspeed MultiStream FPGA update error

Last Updated : March 22, 2013
Products Affected :

FPGA UPDATE FAILED: ERROR UNKNOWN, VALUE 1062

When upgrading from 1.8.X to 1.8.8 or later, you may encounter this error when the FPGA hasn’t upgraded along with the Airspeed application, or it was done incorrectly.

Solution:

Have the customer do the following:
--Open the Airspeed Monitor app and disable all the applications. This will close the AMS application and Transfer Engine.

The Airspeed Multi Stream Application Monitor

--Have them enable the FPGA Update App. This will run through a cycle, opening a "FPGA UPDATE APP cmd window. See if it works through the error.

User-added image

If this fails, do the following:
--Run the hardware diagnostics several times and gather those logs from the DIAG_LOG_FILES.

*For details on this step, in the Avid AirSpeed Multi Stream Installation and User’s Guide, go to page 367 (Performing Hardware Diagnostics)

--Finally, us the Airspeed Log Collect tool and gather ETW logs after having done the FPGA update previously, this will contain information about the error.
