Final Cut Pro X: May stop responding at "Restoring the window layout" or open to a gray window

Resolution

To address this issue, remove the Final Cut Pro Layouts folder. Once this folder is removed, Final Cut Pro X will create a new Layouts folder on launch.

Follow the steps for the version of Mac OS X installed on your computer.

On OS X Lion

  1. In the Finder, hold down the Option key and choose Library from the Go menu.
  2. In the Library folder that opens, go to Application Support/Final Cut Pro.
  3. Drag the Layouts folder from the Final Cut Pro folder to the Trash.

On Mac OS X Snow Leopard

  1. In Finder, choose Home from the Go menu.
  2. In the Home folder that opens, go to /Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro.
  3. Drag the Layouts folder from the Final Cut Pro folder to the Trash.

Final Cut Pro X: How to view progress when sharing files

To view the progress of shared items (entire projects, a selected range of a project, or individual clips), open the Background Tasks window. You can open the window by doing any one of the following:

  • Choose Window > Background Tasks
  • Press Command-9
  • Click the Background Tasks icon in the toolbar.

         

 

The progress of shared items appears under the Sharing section.
