Where can I find the iTunes U app?

Is the iTunes U app available in every country with an App Store?

Yes, the iTunes U app and iTunes U content is available in all App Store countries. 

What are the requirements to use the iTunes U app?

  • You can use the iTunes U app on iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch with iOS 5 and iTunes 10.5.2 or later.  
  • You must have an iTunes Store account to download content from the iTunes U catalog.

How do I access the iTunes U catalog?

Use the iTunes U app to access the iTunes U catalog. Tap the iTunes U icon and your bookshelf appears. In the upper corner, tap the Catalog button and the bookshelf flips around to reveal the iTunes U catalog. From the catalog, browse through more than 800,000 free courses, lectures, videos, films, and other resources. 

Managing your iTunes U content

Are courses and collections from the iTunes U catalog downloaded to my iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch? 

Yes. When you tap the Download or Subscribe buttons, the iTunes U app will download that item to your bookshelf. 

Can I download from the iTunes U catalog using my computer?

Yes, you can browse and download from the iTunes U catalog on your computer, but some content may only be available using the iTunes U app.

 

Can I back up the iTunes U content I download?

Yes, all content you've downloaded from the iTunes U catalog will be automatically added to your iTunes library the next time you sync your device with your computer. 

Can I gift content from the iTunes U catalog?

No, you cannot gift content from the iTunes U catalog.

Is there a limit to the number of courses or collections I can have?

The number of courses or collections you can have in the iTunes U app varies depending on the amount of space available on your device. The iTunes U app does not limit the number of courses or collections allowed on your bookshelf.

What if I can't find my instructor's course in the iTunes U catalog?

If you're unable to find your instructor's course in the iTunes U catalog, you will need to contact your instructor for the course enrollment URL.

Can the iTunes U app play audio or video included with courses or collections?

Can I print or email my notes and PDFs from the iTunes U app?

Yes, you can print PDFs and notes you've taken.

Does the iTunes U app include a dictionary?

Yes, you can look up the definition of words from the iTunes U app using a built-in English or Japanese language dictionary.  

Can I create Notes?

The iTunes U app includes a built-in Notes tab. Create Course Notes or view Book Notes, Bookmarks, and Highlights you've made in books you've read from the course using the Notes tab. To view your Book Notes, Bookmarks, and Highlights, tap the Notes button and then tap Book Notes. 

 

Can I rearrange courses on my iTunes U bookshelf?

Yes, you can rearrange courses in your iTunes U bookshelf by touching and holding a course, then moving the course where you would like it.  You can also sort courses in the iTunes U app by switching to List view and tapping either Bookshelf, Titles, Providers, or Categories buttons.

Can I read my courses while my device is in airplane mode?

Yes, you do not need an Internet connection to read iTunes U content you've already downloaded.

Do courses from the iTunes U catalog have any accessibility features?
