[Pending Validation] 'DAE Error -720 was encountered' when playing back Pro Tools

Posted in Pro Tools

Question :

How do I resolve the error message, 'DAE Error -720 was encountered', when playing back Pro Tools?

Answer :

A complete restart of the computer will usually remedy this.

If a restart does not take care of it, the following steps may resolve this error:

  • Go to the Setup menu in Pro Tools. (The Setup menu is a main menu, you'll find it to the right of File, Edit, View, Track, etc.)
  • Click on Playback Engine.
  • Adjust the CPU Usage Limit to 90%.
  • Click OK.

Note: There is not much information available on the error. To help minimize errors in general, always make sure that your audio and instrument plugins are current compatible versions, and make sure that your version of Pro Tools is compatible with the operating system version on your computer. If you have audio hardware other than Avid, make sure the driver for that audio interface is currrent and compatible with the operating system on your computer.
