  • The editing application will automatically release the hardware if you switch to another application. It will be reactivated when you switch back to the editing application. This allows other applications to use the hardware.
  • Hardware toggle button allows the editor to bypass the hardware and switch to software-only mode. This allows you to enable and disable the hardware for use with other software, for example After Effects. This also allows you to access certain software only features such as Full Screen Play.
  • Audio Punch-in support. If your Open I/O device allows you to record and play simultaneously, you can perform an Audio Punch-In.
Check with your 3rd party vendor to see if they support simultaneous record and play. An updated Open IO plugin may be required.

FAQ’s:

Where do I go for support issues?

For issues with Avid software and hardware including installation, activation, operational questions, diagnostics and troubleshooting use the Avid Knowledge Base,  Avid Community, contact your reseller or Avid Customer Success.

For issues with configuring, operating, and troubleshooting Bluefish444 hardware, refer to their webpage linked above for information on how to get support.  Bluefish444 develop and maintain their own plug-in to interface with the Avid software and are responsible for ensuring compatibility.

Avid Customer Success and Bluefish444 have established case handoff procedures with each other. If you contact Avid for an issue with Bluefish444 hardware Avid Customer Success will ask you to take some steps to verify if the issue lies with the Avid software or the Bluefish444 hardware, including potentially testing the system with the Bluefish444 hardware disabled. Likewise, if you contact Bluefish444 their support staff will take similar steps to find the source of the issue. If the case needs to be transferred to either Avid or Bluefish444 it will be a seamless experience with a “warm” handoff whenever possible.

If you need repair or replacement of Bluefish444 hardware, please contact your reseller or the vendor to make arrangements. Avid does not sell or stock Bluefish444 Open IO hardware.
