Pro Tools HD 10.3.3 with Pro Tools|HDX System Requirements

  • Computer: Avid-qualified Apple computer
    • Mac Pro 4,1 "Nehalem"
    • Mac Pro 5,1 "Westmere"
    • Mac Pro 12-core including:
      • One 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor
      • One 3.33GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon processor
      • Two 2.40GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon processors (12 cores)
      • Two 2.66GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon processor (12 cores)
      • Two 3.06GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon (12 cores)
        • Note:  Avid does not recommend installing HDX cards in a "Harpertown" (3,1), "Clovertown" (2,1) or "Woodcrest" (1,1) Mac Pro.  The use of unsupported Mac Pro computers could result in performance problems, the inability to update the firmware of the HDX card and/or the HDX card becoming unusable.
  • System Software: (32 or 64-bit) Mac OS X Lion 10.7.1-10.7.4
  • System Memory: 4GB minimum, 8GB (or more) recommended
  • Expansion Chassis: Magma ExpressBox 7 (EB7) and ExpressBox 3T (EB3T) now supported for HDX cards with Pro Tools 10.3.3 and higher.
    • Magma ExpressBox 3T (EB3T) expansion chassis qualified with HDX on Mac OS 10.7.4 and higher
      • Computer: Avid-qualified Apple computer
        • MacBook Pro Retina display 15" (Mid 2012:  10,1)
        • MacBook Pro Retina display 13" (Late 2012: 10,2)
        • MacBook Pro 15" (Mid 2012: 9,1)
        • MacBook Pro 13" (Mid 2012: 9,2) 
          • ​Any Thunderbolt port on the above MacBookPro computers is supported
          • Daisy-chaining other Thunderbolt devices with the EB3T is supported
          • Any slot order in the EB3T can be used
            • Note - Some models of the Magma EB3T may require a fan upgrade from Magma in order to provide adequate cooling for the HDX cards and meet Avid and Magma’s compatibility requirements.
 As of Monday, Jan 21st 2013, all EB3T chassis shipped from Magma will include the approved fan. See these instructions to confirm if your Magma EB3T chassis has the approved fan. Users who have the original fan and want to upgrade to the Avid Approved version should contact Magma support at (858) 530-2511 or submit a Support Request online at http://www.magma.com/support.
  • Note - The fan of the Magma EB3T must be set to "F" for fastest or full on.  For instructions on how to set the fan control see the following article or refer to the Magma EB3T user manual
  • Magma ExpressBox 7 (EB7) expansion chassis qualified with HDX on Mac OS 10.7.4 and higher
    • Computer: Avid-qualified Apple computer
      • Mac Pro 5,1 "Nehalem"
      • Mac Pro 5,1 "Westmere"
        • The Magma EB7 Host PCIe card can be installed in any slot of the Mac Pro computer
        • Note: Slot 2 is recommended when recording at sample rates of 192kHz using a "Nehalem" Mac Pro computer
    • Start with slot 1 of the Magma EB7 expansion chassis when installing HDX cards
    • HDX cards can not be installed in both the computer and the expansion chassis
    • Up to 3 HDX cards can be installed in the Magma EB7 expansion chassis

    Known Plug-in Issues:

    • Waves "Tune" renders AudioSuite offset by the handle length (PTSW-147635)
      • Workaround: user must set handle length to "0" in order to properly align audio
    • Vocalign does not align audio with the guide track in Pro Tools (PTSW-149841)
      • Will not properly process with handles. Fix from SynchroArts is in the works
