"Problem Detected with Audio Clock" and DAE error -9092, -9093, -9094, or -9129 or choppy counter, metering, graphical anomalies or MIDI timing problems with Virtual Instruments using Pro Tools on a Dual Core Processor.
These problems can stem from issues with applications that bypass the Windows API for timing by directly using the RDTSC (Read Time Stamp Counter) instruction. This can be remedied by installing the appropriate update(s): * Dual Core Optimizer for AMD processors. (note: This runs as a startup item called "amd_dc_opt". Make sure this is enabled in the System Configuration Utility. To do this click on "Start", select "Run", type "msconfig" and hit "OK", click on the Startup tab and make sure that "amd_dc_opt" is checked.) * Windows Dual Core Hotfix Download the Windows MS 896256 Hotfix for AMD and Intel Processors. (note: You must carefully follow the instructions on this one, since failure to complete all instructions will make this fix ineffective.) Note: The registry editing information at the end of the Microsoft article will DISABLE the hotfix. You DO NOT need to do the registry editing steps! * Microcode Reliability Update Download the Windows MS 936357 Hotfix for Xeon and Core 2 Series mobile and desktop Intel Processors. (note: You must carefully follow the instructions on this one, since failure to complete all instructions will make this fix ineffective.)
