Co-Install notes for Avid Media Composer 6.5.3 (or higher) and Pro Tools 11 (or higher)

Posted in Pro Tools

Pro Tools 11 and higher is supported for co-installation with Avid Media Composer 6.5.3 and up. When attempting to co-install Avid Media Composer and Pro Tools, note the following:

  • Install Pro Tools first and then Media Composer (reverse install order for Media Composer 8.2.2 and Pro Tools 12.0 co-install).
  • You must uninstall all older versions of Media Composer or Pro Tools before installing newer versions.
  • Co-install does not support both applications launched simultaneously.
  • If you run into any issues, uninstall both applications and then reinstall them in the correct order.

Mac Notes
Before installing Media Composer, you must launch Pro Tools once to complete the Pro Tools installation (reverse install order for Media Composer 8.2.2 and Pro Tools 12.0 co-install).

Windows Notes
When you uninstall Pro Tools on an HD|Native or HDX system, choose to uninstall just the application, not the audio drivers.

Hyperthreading
It's recommended that you leave hyperthreading enabled unless otherwise specified by the compatibility document for a specific computer. For more information, please visit:
