Final Cut Pro X: Hiding Events in the Event Library

Summary

Final Cut Pro X uses a new Event-based library. Upon launch, all Events are shown in the Event library. This allows all media to be available for use in projects. However, in some situations this might not be desirable.

To hide Events from the Event Library:

  1. Quit Final Cut Pro X.
  2. Choose File > New Folder to create a new folder alongside your existing Final Cut Events Folder. By default, this is in ~/Movies/.
  3. Name it "Final Cut Events Not in Use" (without the quotes).
  4. From the Final Cut Events folder, select the Event folder that you'd like to hide and drag it into this newly created folder
