Summary

With AirPort Utility version 5.5.3, Apple has improved the AirPort names for all 802.11n-capable AirPort Base Stations. Refer to the following tables to cross-reference the original and new names of 802.11n-capable AirPort Base Stations.

AirPort Extreme 802.11n (3rd Generation), AirPort Extreme 802.11n (1st Generation), AirMac Express with 802.11n-JP, AirPort Express 802.11n (1st Generation), AirPort Extreme 802.11n (4th Generation), Time Capsule 802.11n (2nd Generation), Time Capsule 802.11n (1st Generation), Time Capsule 802.11n (3rd Generation)

AirPort Base Station cross reference tables for 802.11n-capable base stations

Note: AirPort Utility version 5.5.2 and earlier displays the original product names. AirPort Base Station support documentation now uses the new naming convention.

For the following tables:

  • Model number is the model number that is phsically located on each AirPort Base Station
  • AirPort Utility 5.5.3 or later name is the name shown when you select the device in AirPort Utility version 5.5.3 or later
  • Original AirPort Utility (version 5.5.2 or earlier) name is the name shown when you select the device in AirPort Utility version 5.5.2 or earlier
  • Other AirPort name is another name for the product that may sometimes appear in AppleCare support documentation
