Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5, Compressor 4: Deploying across multiple Mac systems using Apple Remote Desktop, NetInstall, or NetRestore

Follow the steps below to deploy Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5, and Compressor 4 across multiple Mac systems using Apple Remote Desktop, NetInstall, or NetRestore.

  1. Ensure each target Mac meets the minimum system requirements

    Note: An OpenCL graphics card is required. These articles provide information on compatible cards.

  2. Ensure each target Mac is up to date. Check for available updates by choosing Software Update from the Apple (?) menu.
  3. On your administrator Mac system, download each application from the Mac App Store. If you purchased volume licenses, you can download each application by entering one of the redemption codes provided.
  4. Deploy the applications to all of the target systems using Apple Remote Desktop, NetInstall, or NetRestore. When deploying, do one of the following:
    • If no earlier version of Final Cut Studio is installed on the computer, copy Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5, and Compressor 4 to the Applications folder at the root level of your hard drive.
    • If an earlier version of Final Cut Studio is already installed on the computer, first create a folder titled "Final Cut Pro" in the Applications folder at the root level of your hard drive. Then, copy Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5 and Compressor 4 to the "Final Cut Pro" folder you created.
  5. On each target Mac, open each new application. Then, check for additional content updates by choosing Software Update from the Apple (?) menu.
