About the Logic Express 9.1.7 Update

Compatibility

  • Provides compatibility with songs created with GarageBand for iOS 1.2.

 

Performance and Stability

  • Resolves an issue in Logic Pro 9.1.6 in which projects with a large number of fades displayed “I/O Error, Result code = -36” when playback was started.
  • Improves performance when using multiple instances of EXS24 in 32-bit mode with EXS24 Virtual Memory mode active.
  • Resolves an issue that could occur which caused the application to stop responding when performing Undo. This would occur after deleting a file or region in the Audio Bin. 

 

Plug-ins 

  • The Output Distortion setting for the Compressor plug-in now works as expected with the "ClassA_R" and "ClassA_U" models.
  • Fixes an issue in which the Autofilter plug-in might produce clicks with certain settings.
  • The "Select Zone of Last Played Key" setting now works as expected in the EXS24 editor.
  • When adding Auxes as additional outputs for Multi Output Software Instruments, the additional Auxes are automatically assigned the same color and track icon as the Software Instrument. 

 

General

  • Fixes an issue in which copying a MIDI region in a project which does not start at 1 1 1 1, and in which the Transposition track is active, might result in unexpected transposition of the copied region.
  • The Controls View of plug-in GUIs now fits properly on the 11-inch MacBook Air display.
  • Resolves an issue in OS X 10.7.x Lion that caused the Consolidate Project command in Logic to open a backup of the project at the end of the process.

 

About the Logic Express 9.1.6 Update

Compatibility

  • On OS X 10.7 Lion, Revert to Saved is now possible after a project has been renamed.


Performance and Stability

  • Logic now uses multiple available cores as expected when performing offline bounces.
  • Resolves an issue in which Logic sometimes quit unexpectedly when deleting multiple Marquee selected tracks with the Drag Mode set to Shuffle L.
  • Fixes an issue in which clicking in an automation lane with the Marquee tool could cause Logic to quit unexpectedly.
  • Channel strip level meters no longer sometimes momentarily stop responding when the playhead is moved to a new position during playback.
  • Loading a Kontakt 4/5 factory preset in 64-bit mode no longer causes Logic to quit unexpectedly.
  • Logic now reliably initializes MIDI ports when Logic is launched by double-clicking a project file, choosing “Open with” from the project file contextual menu, or when using the Load Most Recent Project startup action.

Audio

  • Channel strips with pre-fader sends now mute consistently.
  • Audio playback while using Prelisten in the Audio Bin now properly updates when changing the selection of files or regions.
  • Fixes an issue in which record repeat would delete the wrong take.

Plug-ins and Instruments

  • Dropping multiple samples on the EXS editor keyboard and choosing the Contiguous Zones option now correctly results in a chromatic mapping of the samples.
  • Using the + key to step through EXS instruments no longer causes Logic to sometimes quit unexpectedly.
  • The Key Release Time for a Group can now be set to values greater than 1,000 as expected in the EXS editor.
  • Fixes an issue in which EXS24 did not play one-shots in mono or legato mode.
  • Resolves an issue in EXS24 in which instruments containing zones triggered by key release via a group were susceptible to stuck notes.
  • In EVB3, the extended parameter area no longer shows controls already available in the main plug-in window.
  • Ultrabeat now properly maintains the set pitch of a previously loaded sample after browsing for a new sample and then canceling.
  • Resolves an issue in which auditioning samples in Ultrabeat with Voice Auto Select and "Preview in Voice" active could lead to a sample endlessly looping.

Control Surfaces

  • Changes made to a project using a control surface now reliably activate the control surface Save button.
  • The Undo LED on Logic Control now correctly lights to show the availability of undo steps.
  • Setting parameter assignments on Control Surfaces to fixed values other than 1 now works correctly in 64-bit mode.

General

  • Clicking on an unused take after deleting a comp section no longer selects the entire take folder.
  • Resolves an issue in which using Auto Set Locators by Marquee Selection with very small Marquee selection lengths could result in the playhead getting stuck.
  • Playback now reliably starts from the beginning of the project after using the "Return to Zero" button in the Transport window, no matter what Play setting is active.
  • With Catch Clock Position active and Cycle enabled, Logic now centers the cycle area if it fits within the current view.
  • Fixes an issue in which the visible area in the Arrange window would sometimes jump a few pixels to the left after scrolling to the right on OS X 10.7 Lion.
  • Resolves an issue in which using the Fade tool on a region could cause audio regions to be deleted in projects that contain unused audio regions.
  • "Bounce - Replace All Tracks" now places regions on the correct tracks in songs that contain MIDI take folders.
  • Volume automation now works reliably on all frozen tracks.
  • Resolves an issue in which the Hyper editor did not reliably update to show new selections at high vertical zoom levels.
  • MIDI editors now reliably update to show the contents of MIDI regions selected by rubber-band selection.
  • In the Event editor, the up, down, left, and right arrow keys now correctly navigate between fields while in text edit mode.
  • Logic no longer sometimes asks to save changes when closing a song that has not been changed.
  • The key commands to select projects now work as expected.
  • After using Save As to make a new version of an existing project to a new location, the recording path for the project is now appropriately updated to the location where the new project was saved.
  • Resolves an issue in which moving an audio region where the anchor had been set caused the anchor to reset to the beginning of the region if the project contained take folders.
  • Fixes an issue in which moving or copying a take folder with the drag mode set to No Overlap could alter the take folder.

About the Logic Express 9.1.5 Update

Compatibility

  • Resolves an issue which could cause unexpected feedback in Logic after importing a song from GarageBand for iPad.
  • Selecting the Open Apogee Control Panel command will now launch Apogee’s Maestro 2 application if a Duet 2 is attached.

Performance and Stability

  • Resolves an issue in which Logic might quit unexpectedly when creating a new project.
  • Resolves an issue in which Logic might quit unexpectedly when moving audio regions in the Arrange window.

Plug-Ins

  • Resolves an issue introduced in Logic 9.1.4 in which LFO sync for some Logic plug-ins did not sound as expected.
  • Resolves an issue introduced in Logic 9.1.4 in which automating the Wet/Dry mix control in Delay Designer resulted in zipper noise.
  • The EVB3 plug-in now correctly responds to sustain off messages.
  • Direct text input of the pitch reference for the Tuner plug-in now works correctly.

General

  • Fixes an issue in which performing undo after recording a MIDI take sometimes caused the MIDI track to stop sounding.
  • The “Toggle Zoom to Fit Selection or All Contents” key command now correctly recalls the the previous zoom view rather than zooming in on the entire project.
  • Resolves an issue introduced in Logic 9.1.4 in which some regions might shift out of position after using the “Pack Take Folder” command.
  • Fixes an issue in which Japanese key command sets were not available if Logic was updated to version 9.1.4 before launching Logic for the first time.
  • Resolves a rare take folder issue in which performing undo after deleting a comp section could cause regions in subsequent tracks to shift to the next adjacent track.
  • Fixes an issue in which take folders would not sound on soloed tracks if the Track Mute/Solo mode was set to CPU-saving (Slow Response).

About the Logic Express 9.1.4 update

 Compatibility

  • Logic 9.1.4 is compatible with Mac OS X Lion
  • Logic can now open songs created by GarageBand for iPad.

Performance and Stability

  • Logic now provides more specific messaging when playback is stopped because of hard drive performance issues.
  • Resolves an issue in which Logic sometimes performed very slowly after a project that was saved without assets was consolidated.
  • Logic no longer quits unexpectedly when copying, pasting, or swapping voices between slots in Ultrabeat.

64-bit Mode

  • Resolves an issue in 64-bit mode in which a generic interface for some 32-bit plug-ins was displayed.

Automation

  • Resolves an issue in which moving a region to a different Arrange track assigned to the same channel strip could cause automation to be deleted.
  • Drag-copy of automation curves now works as expected on grouped tracks.
  • Moving an automation node that lies between two other nodes of the same value to the left or right no longer causes it to decrease by -0.1 db in value.
  • Resolves an issue introduced in Logic 9.1 in which performing Undo after using the "Move Visible Track Automation to Region" command would delete the automation.

Audio Editing

  • Resolves an issue in which performing Undo after creating an alias for a region would shorten the region in No Overlap mode.
  • Audio Regions that contain slashes in the name can now be successfully merged using the Glue Tool or Merge command.
  • Quantization of audio regions that have been stretched or compressed and contain tempo information now works reliably.
  • Quantize and Q-Strength now work properly on regions created by exporting a Comp from a Take Folder.
  • Resolves an issue where lengthening an audio region could sometimes cause the audio to unexpectedly stretch.
  • Performing Undo after flattening Takes on a group of flexed tracks now works as expected.
  • Takes no longer sometimes display as soloed when their parent Take folder is disclosed but not selected.
  • Fixes an issue in which dividing a take region that had been created by merging several take regions together could cause the area to the right of the edit to disappear.
  • Resolves an issue in which moving a take region with Quick Swipe Comping disabled sometimes did not move the corresponding take region(s) in tracks within the same Edit Group.
  • Fixes an issue in which dividing a take region that had been created by merging several take regions together could cause the area to the right of the edit to disappear.
  • Resolves an issue in which importing a Take folder into a project with a matching track could cause existing takes to be removed from Take folders in the original track.

Control Surface Support

  • Resolves an issue introduced in Logic 9.1.2 in which pickup mode for generic control surfaces did not work as expected.

General

  • Resolves an issue in which the key commands Next Screenset and Previous Screenset were reversed.
  • If the Startup Action preference is set to “Ask,” it is again possible to open a project by dragging it onto the Logic icon while the Startup window is open.
  • The default region quantize setting is now maintained after importing channel strips from another project.

About the Logic Express 9.1.3 update

  • Resolves an issue introduced in Logic 9.1.2 where Logic might quit unexpectedly when opening if the Native Instruments Kontakt 4 Memory Server was already open.
  • Resolves an issue introduced in Logic 9.1.2 where the Pedalboard stompboxes "Classic Wah" and "Modern Wah" sometimes stopped responding to mouse input.
  • Logic will no longer stop responding during launch if the TouchOSC Control Surface plug-in is being used and the utility application from Objective Development called Little Snitch is configured to deny network access to Logic.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic 9.1.2 that caused Logic to open fewer audio processing threads on i7 Quad-core Mac computers than it did in 9.1.1.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic 9.1.2 where flattening and merging a Take Folder could result in an empty audio region if another track was soloed during the operation.

About the Logic Express 9.1.2 update

This update improves overall stability, provides numerous fixes and improvements, and is recommended for all users of Logic Express 9. Some issues addressed in this update include but are not limited to: 

Performance and Stability

  • Logic’s performance while playing movies at larger than 300% native size in 64-bit mode has been improved.
  • Resolves an issue that could cause the warning dialog “Memory Getting Low” to appear when simultaneously recording multiple tracks in 32-bit mode.
  • Resolves an issue that could cause the warning dialog “Specified volume doesn’t exist -35” to appear when simultaneously recording multiple tracks in 32-bit mode.
  • Using the Undo command after a "Bounce in Place" command now correctly reinserts used plug-ins on the channel strip.
  • Performing Undo after using the "Bounce - Replace All Tracks" command now correctly restores all automation.
  • Resolves an issue that sometimes caused Logic to stop responding when loading a setting for a mono plug-in in a multi-mono surround configuration.

Compatibility

  • Improves compatibility with 6- and 12-core Mac Pro systems.
  • Supports iOS control surface apps that utilize the OSC protocol.
  • Supports REX files when running in 64-bit mode. (Requires compatible REX Library. See the Propellerheads web site for details).
  • Improves compatibility with select Audio Unit plug-ins.
  • The expanded System Performance window now accurately reflects the number of available real cores on all supported computers.
  • Logic no longer inadvertently reloads the content for third-party sampler plug-ins such as Native Instrument’s Kontakt after tracks are deleted, or after some other edits are performed.
  • Resolves an issue introduced in Logic 9.1.1 that could cause the spacebar to incorrectly trigger playback in Logic while the Melodyne plug-in window had focus.
  • Logic Control or Mackie Control hardware control surfaces no longer switch to plug-in edit view when a plug-in on slots 8-15 is removed.

MIDI Editing

  • Resolves an issue introduced in Logic 9.1 where using the Marquee tool to trim the end of a MIDI region could extend the number of loops for regions earlier in the same track.
  • The Piano Roll now updates as expected to show the currently selected MIDI take.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic 9.1.1 which could cause the Score to not display all notes from a region that had been split with the Scissors tool.
  • The appearance of downward slurs and ties has been improved in the Score window.
  • When pasting MIDI events into the Arrange area, the playhead no longer jumps unexpectedly to a position far to the right of the end of the pasted content.

Instruments and Effects

  • Amp Designer now reliably maintains saved non-default EQ settings when a project is reloaded.
  • The Wah Wah stompbox now responds more reliably to expression pedal input.
  • EXS24 loads and plays back instruments that use short AAC or ALAC audio files when Virtual Memory is disabled.
  • Corrects an issue that could cause the “Next Plug-in Setting or EXS Instrument” key command to change settings on the wrong plug-in.
  • It is possible again to copy and paste sequences between Voices within an Ultrabeat pattern.
  • A Software Instrument with a Send set to Post Pan no longer loses audio output when the Aux it sends to is soloed, and the Software Instrument’s pan is adjusted.
  • Software Instrument tracks with the AUNetReceive plug-in no longer exhibit excessive latency.
  • The Noise Gate no longer creates audible clicks while processing audio with the plug-in GUI open.
  • Double-clicking an insert slot will close the associated plug-in if it is open and set to Link Mode.
  • In the EXS Editor, a mouse roll over of an audio file name now displays the full path for the file.
  • The EXS Editor now properly displays all Groups even those that have the same name.

File Handling and Management

  • Resolves an issue which sometimes caused the text after a period in a plug-in setting name to be lost on the first save of the setting.
  • Resolves an issue from Logic 9.1.1 which forced exported MIDI files to have a .logic extension rather than the .mid extension.
  • Import of folder tracks from other projects now works reliably.
  • Bank and Patch names in Multi-instruments now import correctly when using the Track Import feature.
  • Resolves an issue which could cause the Track Import window to become non-functional in certain rare cases.
  • Import of stereo Input Channel Strips from other projects now works reliably.
  • It is again possible to drag split stereo audio files from the Finder into the Arrange window.
  • The mute status is now maintained for tracks imported from other projects using Selective Track Import.
  • The “Export Region as Audio File” and “Export Track as Audio file” functions now add tempo information to the exported files.
  • The EXS24 now automatically locates samples stored in a folder inside the Project Folder that have any of the following names: “Samples,” “Sampler Files,” “Sampler Instruments,” or “Audio Files.”
  • When a project is opened from a project folder that has been copied, EXS24 now loads samples from the copied location instead of the original.
  • It is now possible to drag and drop an AIFF audio file copied from a CD into the Audio Bin in the Media area of the Arrange window.
  • The project name is no longer truncated if a period is added to the project name when performing a Save As for the project.

General Issues

  • Resolves an issue where applying a crossfade with the crossfade tool might affect existing crossfades on the same track.
  • A marker is no longer created unexpectedly when the Open Marker Text command is used.
  • The relative movement of the mouse when editing multiple automation nodes has been improved.
  • The mouse pointer no longer incorrectly shows the Freeze pointer when editing volume, pan, send, mute or solo automation on frozen tracks.
  • Help tags for the Marquee Strip now show the correct range.
  • Soloing an Auxiliary channel strip whose source is a Bus from another Auxiliary channel strip now works as expected.
  • Copying a MIDI region on a ReWire track no longer creates an unexpected new track.
  • Cutting a region at a point earlier than the anchor at high zoom levels no longer causes the region to move unexpectedly.
  • Plug-ins now open with Link mode enabled when they are invoked by entering Plug-in edit mode on a remote control surface.
  • When a channel strip is muted, pre-fader sends on the channel strip are now muted as expected.
  • Reordering multiple Control Surface objects in the Control Surface Setup window now behaves more reliably.
  • Performing comp edits while recording will no longer create graphic artifacts in the Take Folder.
  • The behavior of the key commands to adjust Marquee selection borders based on transients has been improved. See this article for details.
  • There is no longer audible stepping with automated volume changes at low fader levels.
  • Touch automation mode now works correctly with Sculpture's Object Position 2 parameter.
  • Quantize parameters are now correctly maintained when a region is divided.
  • The vertical position guide when moving/copying a flexed region is now correctly positioned at the left edge of the region in projects that start earlier than position 1 1 1 1.
  • The Optimize file(s) command now properly affects both channels of a split stereo file.
  • Delete now works properly on selected regions within undisclosed groups in the Audio Bin.
  • Resolves an issue introduced in Logic 9.1.1 that could cause channel strips with default names to display incorrectly on EuCon control surfaces.
  • The “Reset All I/O Labels” command once again works as expected.
  • Regions dragged from the Audio Bin to tracks within folders in the Arrange window are now correctly positioned.
  • Contextual menus now appear as expected when Control- or right-clicking entries in the Audio Bin in the Media area of the Arrange window.
  • Performing Undo after adding tempo events to a project no longer inadvertently modifies the selections for the active comp in a take folder.
  • Regions with a negative value set for Delay in the Region Inspector are now rendered properly with Bounce Region in Place.
  • Bounce Regions in Place now works properly on record-enabled audio tracks.
  • The current scroll position in the Audio Bin will not jump unexpectedly after renaming an audio file.
  • The color and icon assigned to a track are now properly maintained when tracks are imported using Selective Track Import.
  • Using the Backspace to remove all characters in the File Browser’s search field no longer causes it to lose key focus.
  • Imported linked stereo files will now load with all other audio files in a Project without sometimes displaying a dialog that states "Unequal Stereo Regions Corrected."
  • The MIDI channel number is now appended to the channel strip name when new tracks are created using the “New Track with Next MIDI Channel” menu option.

About the  Logic Express 9.1.1 Update

This update improves overall stability, provides numerous fixes and enhancements, and is recommended for all users of Logic Express 9.

Some issues addressed in this update include but are not limited to: 

Compatibility

  • Exported Open TL files no longer sometimes contain unexpected noise bursts.
  • The jog wheel on Euphonix MC Control now works as expected in scrub mode.
  • The EuCon control surface scribble strip now shows values when moving a fader with EuCon version 2 software.
  • Logic now correctly recognizes the virtual HUI MIDI ports when using Novation's Automap feature.
  • The Control Surface Setup window now only lists devices for which MIDI plug-ins are installed.
  • Resolves an issue that sometimes caused Logic to quit unexpectedly when adjusting parameters in Sonnox Oxford plug-ins.
  • Logic no longer quits unexpectedly when a control surface is used to remove a send from a channel strip.

 

MIDI Editing

  • Reverse Position in the Transform window now works as expected.
  • The Hyper Draw lane in the Piano Roll now properly maintains its size when the Piano Roll is closed and then reopened.
  • The operation labeled "Rel. Crescendo" in the Transform Window now works correctly in all cases.
  • Crescendo operations in the Transform window now correctly account for region position.
  • Fixes a rare issue in which importing a Hyperset into a project may cause it to not load the next time.

 

Instruments and Effects

  • There is no longer an unexpected burst of noise when switching to certain Amp Designer plug-in settings during playback.
  • It is now possible to manually add up to the maximum of 10 stompboxes to a Pedalboard after loading a plug-in setting that contains another Pedalboard with 10 stompboxes.
  • Newly created software instrument tracks now include an EVP88 instrument plug-in by default.
  • Resolves an issue that could lead to hanging notes when using side chain from a bus.
  • The Contiguous Zones setting when loading samples into EXS24 now works as expected.
  • Resolves an issue in which some key commands did not work when certain Audio Unit plug-in windows were in the foreground.
  • Selecting EXS instruments with a period in the name no longer causes the Library to jump to the top level.
  • Resolves an issue in which the Compare button needed a second click to be disabled with some GarageBand synthesizer plug-ins.
  • Resolves an issue in which the Compare button stopped working with some GarageBand synthesizers after it was enabled and disabled more than once. 
  • Resolves an issue In Logic 9.0.1 in which the Input Volume slider on the External Instrument or I/O plug-ins would jump to -24 db if any negative value was set.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic 9.0.1 in which an I/O plug-in inserted on an Aux channel strip did not route incoming audio correctly.
  • The menu is more responsive when using Find to search for an EXS instrument.

 

File Handling and Management

  • Copy/Convert of 48kHz MP3 files now maintains the correct sample rate when you choose "Original sample rate."
  • Import of SMPTE-locked regions now works as expected.
  • Resolves an issue in which Logic's search functionality would ignore character matches where the case was different
  • Resolves an issue in which Logic would sometimes stop responding for a long time when opening a large number of files using the Add Audio Files command from the Bin.
  • It is now possible to drag and drop presets from the Finder onto the Pianoteq Audio Unit plug-in GUI.
  • Save now works correctly when saving Logic 7 projects with the same name and path.
  • The File Browser no longer displays hidden Unix folders.
  • File names with over 32 characters are now supported.
  • The file selector now correctly defaults to the Audio folder in the current Project folder when attempting to locate missing audio files.
  • The Audio Bin now correctly shows the entire path for audio files in projects with long names.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic 9.0.1 where exported files with a single tempo contained two tempo markers.
  • Drag and drop from plug-in GUIs now works as expected.

General Issues

  • Resolves an issue that caused some pop-up menus to respond slowly.
  • CPU performance at high sample rates has been improved.
  • The Undo menu now updates properly to consistently show the next available undo step.
  • The Nudge Region/Event Position Right/Left by 10ms key commands now work as expected.
  • Portions of audio regions with fades now transpose properly with Follow Tempo enabled.
  • Changes to the Input Monitoring buttons on multiple channel strips in the Mixer are now reliably shown on all corresponding channel strips in the Arrange window.
  • Resolves an issue that prevented using the contextual menu to change the channel strip assigned to an Arrange track.
  • Resolves an issue in which recording would incorrectly appear to continue after "Disk too slow" alerts.
  • Resolves an issue that leads to automation data being copied incorrectly when a region was copied to a position adjacent to an existing region.
  • The Flatten, Unpack, and "Unpack to New Tracks" key commands now work correctly for MIDI take folders.
  • SMPTE locked regions are now placed correctly when imported into a project that has a different SMPTE start time than the project in which they were created.
  • Double-clicking the position of a marker in the Marker List no longer causes it to unexpectedly shift position when the project start is earlier than 1 1 1 1.
  • The key command "Show/Hide All Regions" in the Audio Bin now works correctly.
  • It is now possible to dither when the Sample Rate is set to "Original sample rate" when using "Copy/Convert Files" in the Audio Bin.
  • Newly recorded Take folders are now always open when recording on a single track.
  • Logic no longer stops responding when Repeat Section is used twice.
  • Resolves an issue in which Logic quit unexpectedly if Complex was enabled in the Track Inspector on a track assigned to a Group (with Groups disabled).
  • Resolves an issue in which an alert message sometimes appeared if the playhead was moved prior to using Beats From Region in the Beat Mapping track.
  • Resolves an issue in which Logic might quit unexpectedly when writing automation from a plug-in GUI while in Touch mode if Automation View mode was active.
  • Undo now works correctly after deleting a region with Shuffle Left mode enabled.
  • Resolves an issue in which "Slice at Transient Markers" only worked if Flex mode was enabled, disabled, and then enabled again.
  • Replace mode recording no longer intermittently removes the entire second region when punching in over portions of two adjacent regions.
  • "Drum Replacement/Doubling" no longer sometimes leads to "Out of Memory" alerts.
  • Resolves an issue in which some Audio Unit plug-in GUIs would incorrectly separate from the Logic plug-in HUD after using File operations from the Audio Unit GUI.
  • Creating four automation nodes with Shift-Option-Control and rubber band selection now properly leaves the middle 2 nodes selected.
  • Using Repeat Section in projects where the start position is earlier than 1 1 1 1 no longer sometimes moves automation nodes.
  • Chase of automation now works reliably in projects and templates created by older versions of Logic.
  • Automation written over existing automation on grouped tracks using a control surface is now plays back as expected.
  • Assigning a send to a new bus with Logic Control now creates a new Aux channel strip as expected.
  • Latch mode automation now behaves correctly when Link is active for the Plug-in GUI and automation view is enabled in the Arrange window..
  • The Q-reference button now disappears as expected when a track is removed from a phase-locked automation group.
  • Resolves an issue in which there were sometimes short audio dropouts when quantizing audio in Slicing mode.
  • Flattening Take Folders on grouped tracks no longer converts quantize markers to Flex markers.
  • It is now possible to create a marker less than a beat away from an existing marker with the "Create Marker without rounding" key command.
  • The Hide All Regions key command now works as expected in the Audio Bin.
  • Nudge key commands now work as expected in the Signature List.
  • The "Zoom to Fit All Contents" and "Zoom to Fit Selection" key commands now work properly in the Piano Roll.
  • There is now a key command to set the Flex tool.
  • Deselecting items now consistently works as expected in the Audio Window.
  • Japanese characters now display correctly in plug-in title bars.
  • Dialog sheets are no longer intermittently hidden by plug-in GUIs.
  • The Sample Editor now correctly links to new files created by the "Convert Regions to New Audio Files" command in the Arrange window.
  • Insert Multiple now works as expected in the Score window when the Pencil tool is used as the Command key tool.
  • Resolves an issue in which take lanes would rarely not show active comps.
  • Resolves issues in which dividing and copying grouped tracks with Take folders caused regions to be incorrectly shortened and grouping to be lost in some limited circumstances.
  • Rubber band selection of Takes on grouped tracks now works correctly.
  • Track import now works correctly when importing multi-timbral channel strips.
  • Importing tracks with the Content box unchecked no longer creates empty regions when the source tracks contain Take folders.
  • Importing tracks with Content enabled no longer creates duplicate channel strips for each take lane in the source project.
  • Outputs for Bus channel strips imported with routings from Logic 7 projects are now assigned to Stereo instead of having no output destination.
  • Importing Bus channel strips with routings from Logic 7 projects no longer creates duplicate Bus channel strips.
  • Recalling a screen set no longer reduces the size of the Arrange window if the tool bar is set to display "Icon only" or "Text only."
  • The Select Empty Regions command no longer sometimes improperly removes regions or disables loops in the Arrange window.
  • Fades are now displayed at the correct position over the region waveform in projects that start before position 1 1 1 1.
  • The Strip Silence window is no longer empty when used in one project and then opened in another during the same session.
  • Flatten and Merge of takes on grouped tracks now always creates regions of the same length.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic Express 9.0.1 in which it was not possible to create three flex markers by clicking the lower half of a region, after quantization had been applied to the region.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic Express 9.0.1 in which Option-drag to copy a region on an Aux channel strip created a duplicate track in the Arrange.
  • It is now possible to open a Multi Instrument editor window on Mac OS X v10.6.
  • It is now possible to quantize takes on grouped tracks.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic Express 9.0.1 in which using the Strip Silence key command could cause Logic to quit unexpectedly.
  • Resolves an issue in which disabling the Q reference button track that contains a region that has been stretched and then divided could cause the length of the region to change.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic Express 9.0.1 in which using the Use button in the Audio to MIDI Groove template with a flexed region could cause Logic to quit unexpectedly.

About the Logic Express 9.0.1 Update

This update improves overall stability, provides numerous fixes and enhancements, and is recommended for all users of Logic Express 9.

Some issues addressed in this update include but are not limited to:

  • Replace mode now functions as expected when Punch Recording.
  • Trimming a region now behaves correctly for regions which have their transient quantized to the beginning of the region. 
  • Using "Paste at Original Position" in the Arrange window now works as expected. 
  • Using track import Replace to channel strip used on multiple tracks in Arrange window now works as expected.
  • Correct automation values are now maintained when one region is moved over another with the "Move Automation with Regions" option.
  • The Save button on a Logic/Mackie Control no longer stays lit when pressed with some projects.
  • The Reassign Track shortcut menu now correctly displays the currently assigned channel strip object.
  • Text Only mode for the Toolbar now remains in effect when an option is clicked on the Toolbar.
  • MIDI commands can now be assigned to key commands with fixed assignments.
  • Clicking solo on a channel strip no longer selects the channel strip.
  • Logic no longer quits unexpectedly if the grid value in the Hyper Edit Convert Event definition dialog is changed.
  • MIDI regions now play at the correct tempo when scrubbed with the Solo tool. 
  • Current project Mixer settings are now correctly maintained when importing tracks with "Send all fader values" enabled.
  • EXS24 now correctly displays all parameters in Editor view for instruments created in Logic 8.
  • Logic no longer quits unexpectedly in recording situations where both a MIDI and audio track are record enabled and the MIDI track is not selected.

Enhancements implemented include:

  • It is now possible to measure and provide latency compensation for an external signal chain that is routed via the I/O plug-in. 
  • You can now snap align Flex Markers to MIDI notes within other tracks in the Arrange window. 
  • The Automap feature for Novation MIDI controllers now functions when using the Logic Studio plug-ins.
  • Apogee's UV-22 dithering algorithm is now an option when bouncing audio files.
