About the Logic Pro 9.1.3 update

  • Resolves an issue introduced in Logic 9.1.2 where Logic might quit unexpectedly when opening if the Native Instruments Kontakt 4 Memory Server was already open.
  • Resolves an issue introduced in Logic 9.1.2 where the Pedalboard stompboxes "Classic Wah" and "Modern Wah" sometimes stopped responding to mouse input.
  • Logic will no longer stop responding during launch if the TouchOSC Control Surface plug-in is being used and the utility application from Objective Development called Little Snitch is configured to deny network access to Logic.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic 9.1.2 that caused Logic to open fewer audio processing threads on i7 Quad-core Mac computers than it did in 9.1.1.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic 9.1.2 where flattening and merging a Take Folder could result in an empty audio region if another track was soloed during the operation.

Some issues addressed in this update include but are not limited to: 

Performance and Stability

  • Logic’s performance while playing movies at larger than 300% native size in 64-bit mode has been improved.
  • Resolves an issue that could cause the warning dialog “Memory Getting Low” to appear when simultaneously recording multiple tracks in 32-bit mode.
  • Resolves an issue that could cause the warning dialog “Specified volume doesn’t exist -35” to appear when simultaneously recording multiple tracks in 32-bit mode.
  • Using the Undo command after a "Bounce in Place" command now correctly reinserts used plug-ins on the channel strip.
  • Performing Undo after using the "Bounce - Replace All Tracks" command now correctly restores all automation.
  • Resolves an issue that sometimes caused Logic to stop responding when loading a setting for a mono plug-in in a multi-mono surround configuration.

Compatibility

  • Improves compatibility with 6- and 12-core Mac Pro systems.
  • Supports iOS control surface apps that utilize the OSC protocol.
  • Supports REX files when running in 64-bit mode. (Requires compatible REX Library. See the Propellerheads web site for details.
  • There is no longer audible stepping with automated volume changes at low fader levels.
  • Touch automation mode now works correctly with Sculpture's Object Position 2 parameter.
  • Quantize parameters are now correctly maintained when a region is divided.
  • The vertical position guide when moving/copying a flexed region is now correctly positioned at the left edge of the region in projects that start earlier than position 1 1 1 1.
  • The Optimize file(s) command now properly affects both channels of a split stereo file.
  • Delete now works properly on selected regions within undisclosed groups in the Audio Bin.
  • Resolves an issue introduced in Logic 9.1.1 that could cause channel strips with default names to display incorrectly on EuCon control surfaces.
  • The “Reset All I/O Labels” command once again works as expected.
  • Regions dragged from the Audio Bin to tracks within folders in the Arrange window are now correctly positioned.
  • Contextual menus now appear as expected when Control- or right-clicking entries in the Audio Bin in the Media area of the Arrange window.
  • Performing Undo after adding tempo events to a project no longer inadvertently modifies the selections for the active comp in a take folder.
  • Regions with a negative value set for Delay in the Region Inspector are now rendered properly with Bounce Region in Place.
  • Bounce Regions in Place now works properly on record-enabled audio tracks.
  • The current scroll position in the Audio Bin will not jump unexpectedly after renaming an audio file.
  • The color and icon assigned to a track are now properly maintained when tracks are imported using Selective Track Import.
  • Using the Backspace to remove all characters in the File Browser’s search field no longer causes it to lose key focus.
  • Imported linked stereo files will now load with all other audio files in a Project without sometimes displaying a dialog that states "Unequal Stereo Regions Corrected."
  • The MIDI channel number is now appended to the channel strip name when new tracks are created using the “New Track with Next MIDI Channel” menu option.

Some issues addressed in this update include but are not limited to: 

64-bit Mode

  • It is now possible to export MP3 files while running in 64-bit mode.
  • AAF import and export now work as expected in 64-bit mode.
  • The menu item to import audio from a movie is now available in 64-bit mode.
  • EuCon control surfaces now work as expected in 64-bit mode.
  • Resolves an issue that could lead to a "Too Many Files Open" alert when using multiple instances of Spectrasonics Omnisphere in 64-bit more.
  • The Novation Automap feature now works as expected in 64-bit mode.
  • It is now possible to run FXPansion's BFD2 plug-in the 32-bit Audio Unit Bridge.
  • An issue that prevented the GUIs for Overloud plug-ins to display in the 32-bit Audio Unit Bridge is resolved.
  • Various issues with the GUI and controls of Native Instruments plug-ins in the 32-bit Audio Unit Bridge are resolved.
  • Resolves an issue that could cause Logic's memory use to grow unusually while scanning 32-bit Audio Unit plug-ins.
  • The Binaural Panner now works as expected in 64-bit mode.
  • Various stability improvements when running 32-bit plug-ins in the 32-bit Audio Unit Bridge.
  • Resolves a situation that prevented Logic from responding to key commands after all 32-bit Audio Unit Bridge windows were closed.
  • If The 32-bit Audio Unit Bridge quits unexpectedly, 32-bit plug-ins are now reloaded as expected when the project is reopened. 
  • Unexpected quitting of the 32-bit Audio Unit Bridge no longer sometimes causes Logic to stop responding.

 

Compatibility

  • Resolves an issue that could lead Logic to quit unexpectedly when selecting video settings while using a Blackmagic video card.
  • Exported Open TL files no longer sometimes contain unexpected noise bursts.
  • Resolves an issue that could cause Logic to quit unexpectedly when scanning for all control surfaces.
  • It is again possible to import Giga Instruments.

 

MIDI Editing

  • Reverse Position in the Transform window now works as expected.
  • The Hyper Draw lane in the Piano Roll now properly maintains its size when the Piano Roll is closed and then reopened.
  • The operation labeled "Rel. Crescendo" in the Transform Window now works correctly in all cases.

 

Instruments and Effects

  • There is no longer an unexpected burst of noise when switching to certain Amp Designer plug-in settings during playback.
  • EXS24 now reliably loads instruments that contain audio files with long file names.
  • EXS instruments with double-byte characters in their file names now load properly again.
  • It is again possible to load EXS24 instruments from Symlinks.
  • It is now possible to manually add up to the maximum of 10 stompboxes to a Pedalboard after loading a plug-in setting that contains another Pedalboard with 10 stompboxes.
  • Resolves an issue that could lead to hanging notes when using side chain from a bus.
  • Newly created software instrument tracks now include an EVP88 instrument plug-in by default.

File Handling and Management

  • Copy/Convert of 48kHz MP3 files now maintains the correct sample rate when you choose "Original sample rate."
  • Import of SMPTE-locked regions now works as expected.
  • Inclusion of a "." in the name of a bounced file no longer truncates the name.
  • Resolves an issue where Logic's search functionality would ignore character matches where the case was different
  • Resolves an issue where Logic would sometimes stop responding for a long time when opening a large number of files using the Add Audio Files command from the Bin.

General Issues

  • An issue that caused some pop-up menus to respond slowly is resolved.
  • User-created Groove Templates made in Logic 9.0.2 or earlier are again available in the Quantize menu.
  • CPU performance at high sample rates has been improved.
  • The Undo menu now updates properly to consistently show the next available undo step.
  • The Nudge Region/Event Position Right/Left by 10ms key commands now work as expected.
  • The behavior of key commands to adjust Marquee selection borders based on transients has been improved. See 
  • Portions of audio regions with fades now transpose properly with Follow Tempo enabled.
  • Resolves an issue that could cause a Track Group's Phase-Locked Audio setting to be unintentionally disabled by selecting "Disable and Select" in the "Inconsistent Region Start Positions" warning dialog.
  • Changes to the Input Monitoring buttons on multiple channel strips in the Mixer are now reliably shown on all corresponding channel strips in the Arrange window.
  • Resolves an issue that prevented using the contextual menu to change the channel strip assigned to an Arrange track.
  • Freezing a track no longer prevents automation edits on other tracks.
  • Resolves an issue where recording would incorrectly appear to continue after "Disk too slow errors."

Some issues addressed in this update include but are not limited to: 

 

  • An issue that leads to automation data being copied incorrectly when a region was copied to a position adjacent to an existing region is resolved.
  • The Contiguous Zones setting when loading samples into EXS24 now works as expected.
  • The "Flatten", "Unpack", and "Unpack to New Tracks" key commands now work correctly for MIDI take folders.
  • SMPTE locked regions are now placed correctly when imported into a project that has a different SMPTE start time than the project in which they were created.
  • Double-clicking the position of a marker in the Marker List no longer causes it to unexpectedly shift position when the project start is earlier than 1 1 1 1.
  • The key command "Show/Hide All Regions" in the Audio Bin now works correctly.
  • It is now possible to dither when the Sample Rate is set to "Original sample rate" when using "Copy/Convert Files" in the Audio Bin.
  • An issue where some key commands did not work when certain Audio Unit plug-in windows were in the foreground is resolved.
  • Newly recorded Take folders are now always open when recording on a single track.
  • Logic no longer stops responding when Repeat Section is used twice.
  • File names with over 32 characters are now supported.
  • An issue in which Logic quit unexpectedly if Complex was enabled in the Track Inspector on a track assigned to a Group (with Groups disabled) is resolved.
  • An issue in which an alert message sometimes appeared if the playhead was moved prior to using Beats From Region in the Beat Mapping track is resolved.
  • An issue in which Logic might quit unexpectedly when writing automation from a plug-in GUI while in Touch mode if Automation View mode was active is resolved.
  • Undo now works correctly after deleting a region with Shuffle Left mode enabled.
  • An issue in which "Slice at Transient Markers" only worked if Flex mode was enabled, disabled, and then enabled again is resolved.
  • Replace mode recording no longer intermittently removes the entire second region when punching in over portions of two adjacent regions.
  • "Drum Replacement/Doubling" no longer sometimes leads to "Out of Memory" alerts.
  • It is now possible to drag and drop presets from the Finder onto the Pianoteq Audio Unit plug-in GUI.
  • An issue where some Audio Unit plug-in GUIs would incorrectly separate from the Logic plug-in HUD after using File operations from the Audio Unit GUI is resolved.
  • Creating four automation nodes with Shift-Option-Control and rubber band selection now properly leaves the middle 2 nodes selected.
  • Using Repeat Section in projects where the start position is earlier than 1 1 1 1 no longer sometimes moves automation nodes.
  • Chase of automation now works reliably in projects and templates created by older versions of Logic.
  • Automation written over existing automation on grouped tracks using a control surface is now plays back as expected.
  • Save now works correctly when saving Logic 7 projects with the same name and path.
  • Assigning a send to a new bus with Logic Control now creates a new Aux channel strip as expected.
  • The jog wheel on Euphonix MC Control now works as expected in scrub mode.
  • The EuCon control surface scribble strip now shows values when moving a fader with EuCon version 2 software.
  • Logic now correctly recognizes the virtual HUI MIDI ports when using Novation's Automap feature.
  • The Control Surface Setup window now only lists devices for which MIDI plug-ins are installed.
  • Crescendo operations in the Transform window now correctly account for region position.
  • The Adaptive Limiter plug-in no longer makes unexpected noises when the Mode setting is toggled between OptFit and NoOver during playback.
  • Latch mode automation now behaves correctly when Link is active for the Plug-in GUI and automation view is enabled in the Arrange window..
  • The Q-reference button now disappears as expected when a track is removed from a phase-locked automation group.
  • An issue where there were sometimes short audio dropouts when quantizing audio in Slicing mode is resolved.
  • Flattening Take Folders on grouped tracks no longer converts quantize markers to Flex markers.
  • It is now possible to create a marker less than a beat away from an existing marker with the "Create Marker without rounding" key command.
  • The Hide All Regions key command now works as expected in the Audio Bin.
  • Nudge key commands now work as expected in the Signature List.
  • The "Zoom to Fit All Contents" and Zoom to Fit Selection" key commands now work properly in the Piano Roll.
  • There is now a key command to set the Flex tool.
  • Selecting EXS instruments with a period in the name no longer causes the Library to jump to the top level.
  • Deselecting items now consistently works as expected in the Audio Window.
  • The File Browser no longer displays hidden Unix folders.
  • The file selector now correctly defaults to the Audio folder in the current Project folder when attempting to locate missing audio files.
  • The Audio Bin now correctly shows the entire path for audio files in projects with long names.
  • Logic no longer quits unexpectedly when dither is applied when using Copy/Convert to change 5.1 channel AIFF files to CAF.
  • Japanese characters now display correctly in plug-in title bars.
  • Drag and drop from plug-in GUIs now works as expected.
  • Dialog sheets are no longer intermittently hidden by plug-in GUIs.
  • The Sample Editor now correctly links to new files created by the "Convert Regions to New Audio Files" command in the Arrange window.
  • Insert Multiple now works as expected in the Score window when the Pencil tool is used as the Command key tool.
  • An issue in which take lanes would rarely not show active comps is resolved.
  • Issues in which dividing and copying grouped tracks with Take folders caused regions to be incorrectly shortened and grouping to be lost in some limited circumstances is resolved.
  • Rubber band selection of Takes on grouped tracks now works correctly.
  • Track import now works correctly when importing multi-timbral channel strips.
  • Importing tracks with the Content box unchecked no longer creates empty regions when the source tracks contain Take folders.
  • Importing tracks with Content enabled no longer creates duplicate channel strips for each take lane in the source project.
  • Outputs for Bus channel strips imported with routings from Logic 7 projects are now assigned to Stereo instead of having no output destination.
  • Importing Bus channel strips with routings from Logic 7 projects no longer creates duplicate Bus channel strips.
  • Recalling a screen set no longer reduces the size of the Arrange window if the tool bar is set to display "Icon only" or "Text only."
  • The contextual menu in the the Sculpture plug-in's Morph Pad now works correctly.
  • The contextual menu for String Animation in the Sculpture plug-in now works correctly.
  • An issue in which the Compare button needed a second click to be disabled with some GarageBand synthesizer plug-ins is resolved.
  • An issue in which the Compare button stopped working with some GarageBand synthesizers after it was enabled and disabled more than once is resolved. 
  • An issue that sometimes caused Logic to quit unexpectedly when adjusting parameters in Sonnox Oxford plug-ins is resolved.

About the Logic Pro 9.0.2 update

  • This update improves overall stability, provides numerous fixes and enhancements, and is recommended for all users of Logic Pro 9.
  • Some issues addressed include, but are not limited to: 
  • Resolves an issue where Logic Pro 9.0.1 quit unexpectedly when a TDM plug-in was added to an audio track, or when a project or template that contained TDM plug-ins on audio tracks was loaded.
  • Resolves an issue In Logic 9.0.1 where the Input Volume slider on the External Instrument or I/O plug-ins would jump to -24 db if any negative value was set.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic 9.0.1 where an I/O plug-in inserted on an Aux channel strip did not route incoming audio correctly.
  • The Select Empty Regions command no longer sometimes improperly removes regions or disables loops in the Arrange window.
  • Logic no longer quits unexpectedly when a control surface is used to remove a send from a channel strip.
  • Fades are now displayed at the correct position over the region waveform in projects that start before position 1 1 1 1.
  • The Strip Silence window is no longer empty when used in one project and then opened in another during the same session.
  • The menu is more responsive when using Find to search for an EXS instrument.
  • Flatten and Merge of takes on grouped tracks now always creates regions of the same length.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic Pro 9.0.1 where it was not possible to create three flex markers by clicking the lower half of a region, after quantization had been applied to the region.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic Pro 9.0.1 where Option-drag to copy a region on an Aux channel strip created a duplicate track in the Arrange.
  • It is now possible to open a Multi Instrument editor window on Mac OS X v10.6.
  • It is now possible to quantize takes on grouped tracks.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic Pro 9.0.1 where using the Strip Silence key command could cause Logic to quit unexpectedly.
  • Resolves an issue where disabling the Q reference button track that contains a region that has been stretched and then divided could cause the length of the region to change.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic Pro 9.0.1 where exported files with a single tempo contained two tempo markers.
  • Some Sculpture presets no longer sound different when reloaded onto the same channel strip.
  • Fixes a rare issue where importing a Hyperset into a project may cause it to not load the next time.
  • Resolves an issue in Logic Pro 9.0.1 where using the Use button in the Audio to MIDI Groove template with a flexed region could cause Logic to quit unexpectedly.

About the Logic Pro 9.0.1 update

  • Some issues addressed include, but are not limited to: 
  • Replace mode now functions as expected when Punch Recording.
  • Trimming a region now behaves correctly for regions which have their first transient quantized to the beginning of the region. 
  • Using "Paste at Original Position" in the Arrange window now works as expected. 
  • Using track import Replace to channel strip used on multiple tracks in the Arrange window now works as expected.
  • Correct automation values are now maintained when one region is moved over another with the "Move Automation with Regions" option.
  • The Save button on a Logic/Mackie Control no longer stays lit when pressed with some projects.
  • The Reassign Track shortcut menu now correctly displays the currently assigned channel strip object.
  • Text Only mode for the Toolbar now remains in effect when an option is clicked on the Toolbar.
  • MIDI commands can now be assigned to key commands with fixed assignments.
  • Clicking solo on a channel strip no longer selects the channel strip.
  • Logic no longer quits unexpectedly if the grid value in the Hyper Edit Convert Event definition dialog is changed.
  • MIDI regions now play at the correct tempo when scrubbed with the Solo tool. 
  • Current project Mixer settings are now correctly maintained when importing tracks with "Send all fader values" enabled.
  • EXS24 now correctly displays all parameters in Editor view for instruments created in Logic 8.
  • Logic no longer quits unexpectedly in recording situations where both a MIDI and audio track are record enabled and the MIDI track is not selected.
  • Enhancements implemented include:
  • It is now possible to measure and provide latency compensation for an external signal chain that is routed via the I/O plug-in. 
  • You can now snap align Flex Markers to MIDI notes within other tracks in the Arrange window. 
  • The Automap feature for Novation MIDI controllers now functions when using the Logic Studio plug-ins.
  • Apogee's UV-22 dithering algorithm is now an option when bouncing audio files.
